Sussex Butterfly Report 2004

Now that all the data submitted during 2004 has been entered onto the Levana software and can be viewed as distribution maps, this year’s report is a comparative statement between 2003 and 2004.

When making year-on-year comparisons, Levana speaks of new and lost squares. Such gains and losses are probably not ecological but more a reflection of recorders’ changing preference in venues.

On the maps, open circles refer to locations where a species was recorded in 2003 but not in 2004 while the closed circles refer to locations where that species was recorded in 2004.
