sat 18/07/2026 Windover Hill. Wilmington, E,Sx. T(Q 5439 0321) After looking at reports of no sightings of Grayling at Deep Dene I thought It's time to pay another visit to the area (last time we was up here was about three years and seeing them) so between 11.03am and 1.45pm walked one of the upper tracks where I'd seen them last time. no Graylings were seen, It would be a pity if it has gone from this site, I first saw them here on the 5th sept. 1984. Ian and Mark turned up hoping to see the Grayling just as we were leaving, so I don't know how they got on? I counted the butterflies on the way up from the small car park past the pumping station to the gate that leads to the Grayling area;- 20x Hedge Browns, 193x Chalk Hill Blues, 6x Small Heath, 3x Brown Argus including one egg laying, 2x Small Blues, 2x Common Blues, 3x Small Skippers, 10x Meadow Browns, 2x Small Whites, 6x Wall, 2x Hummingbird Hawk Moth, 2x Dark Green Fritillaries, At the Grayling site I lost count, but counted 1x Silver-spotted Skipper (m), 7x Small Whites, 3x Brimstones, 2x Red Admiral, 7x Walls, 2x Painted Ladies, and 5x Dark Green Fritillaries,
