Report Details
I intended to walk between Amberley and Arundel today but got heavily waylaid in a flower rich Medley and Stoke Bottom. There were 100s maybe 1000s of Chalk Hill Blue. The steep south facing slopes were a mass of flickering movement, incredible.
They were joined by a further 20 butterfly species including Silver-spotted Skipper, Small Blue, Adonis Blue, Common Blue as well as DGF, Marbled White, Dingy Skipper(14), Clouded Yellow (4m, 2f including a Helice form), Small Copper, Small Heath, Small White, Comma, Red Admiral, Peacock, Brown Argus, Brimstone, Small Skipper, Gatekeeper, Painted Lady and Meadow Brown.
Why can't more of the South Downs be like this? It's a National Park after all.
There were also Wall Brown (2) on the High Titten.
