A blustery late afternoon/early evening visit, first to Shooters Bottom in search of migrant birds, then to the grassland around Horseshoe Plantation. I was surprised to encounter a Small Blue in the lee of the bushes above the east side of the former site. It’s the first time I’ve seen this species at Beachy Head. Several Small Heaths, Common and Chalk Hill Blues in the surrounds of the plantation, most appearing to be settling in for the night, and, best of all, a single Silver-spotted Skipper.
