Apologies for the rather late report (no excuses other than forgetfulness and having been on holiday in the interim) but here's a couple of shots that I managed of a very brief encounter with my first ever (UK) Queen of Spain Fritillary. He (?) was spotted on the banks of the Cuckmere while ambling back to Alfriston after a very satisfactory pub lunch in Litlington. I have to confess that I hadn't realised what it was until I checked my photos sometime later, I put that down to a combination of how fleeting the encounter was and the recently consumed couple of pints of the Long Man Brewery's finest...
